The one they show at 2:28 …. that little half sphere thing isn’t for pushing down the diaper. It pops out and you can put an air freshener in there. Or, like I did, you can cut off the bottom of an old pair of panty hose and fill it with baking soda, tie off the end, and put that in the little air freshener area. It will absorb some of the odor. Not all, but some.

I am a first time mom. My son is almost two months old, we got a Diaper Genie, and it works really well I think. Changing the bag is another story…but each diaper is individually wrapped up, and the bags are deodorized. I believe this is probably the best thing out there.

That’s the funniest video you’ve done! We actually have the Cosco, and yes, it really is that bad!

I am 20 and have been in diapers all my life. My diaper pail holds a majority of the fumes inside. When it is open it is very obvious. I have never been brave enough to stick my hole face in there to smell it, my dad has. We don’t empty it our maid does one of the lovely perks of her job (yea right).

You should try the diaper genie. I have 8 littler sibs and this works pretty well. It is like a trash can with a turner on top. You insert the diaper and turn the turner. It ties a not of sorts between each diaper then it drops the diaper into the main bag holder. That way the poop is separate and you get a clean bag each time. Just remember to turn again after diaper disappears to get your clean bag for next time.

It’s amazing how many diapers a baby goes through! The UK has a recycling facility that recycles disposable diapers. It was built by a company called Knowaste. Google them…
A group of parents began a program here in California as well. They cannot afford a Knowaste processor so they currently use a machine that grinds them up and then they compost the remains.
If anyone lives in the So Cal area and wants to contact them, please message me. I will pass along their information…

why dont you try changing a diaper pail with cloth diapers, those hardly stink…we cloth diaper and don’t have a problem…hint, when cloth diapering dont use a covered pail…belive me, if you leave it coverless they dry out before they get to stink…could you do something with clother diapering?

yes… as long as you guys are trying… that is all I ask.

Heck… I don’t mind diaper duty, so all I wanted was for him to do what he did… fill in when I wasn’t home.

too funny about changing OTHER people’s kids.

I have changed my nieces’ and nephew’s diapers… I’ve changed the kids of my friends.

Quite frankly… if I have a kid in arms, it’s just something I offer to do because I figure a new mom needs a break.

But my husband definitely has issues… he did OKAY doing diaper duty with our boys… it totally weirded him out to change our daughter… and forGET about changing other people’s kids.

so I do think dads seem to have a harder time.

I like my diaper genie. Now they have ones that are automatic and sausage the diapers into a long chain of individually wrapped diapers without your having to hardly touch the diaper pail. Try it out- you might like it!
